LaKeisha’s campaign is centered on a deep respect for humanity and uplifting the voices of everyday people. Her boldness and passion drive her commitment to making Athens inclusive and affordable for all of us. LaKeisha believes everyone should have the opportunity for self-determination. Athens should and can be a city that fosters community, belonging, freedom, and empowerment for all. LaKeisha envisions a thriving and equitable Athens where every member of the community has the opportunity to succeed.
LaKeisha is an Athens native whose experiences, compassion, and critical thinking have fostered an urgency and calling to make Athens a place where we can all thrive. Her collaborative and comprehensive approach to governance will focus on creative and innovative approaches to problem-solving to move Athens toward this vision.

Pursue PILOT agreements with the University of Georgia and other eligible nonprofit organizations to support housing affordability initiatives.
Build affordable communities.
Prioritize creative housing solutions such as ADUs, Tiny Homes and other innovative models.

Establish concierge-style services to guide women owned, minority owned and small business owners from concept through launch and operation.
Strengthen small business collaboratives & develop thriving co-op spaces.
Develop and implement plans to strengthen procurement opportunities for women-owned, minority-owned and small businesses.
Simplify and streamline the process of doing business in and with Athens-Clarke County.

Launch Every Child Thrives Initiative to foster positive youth development (among all youth including children in foster care).
Prioritize mental health by creating a mobile mental health unit & establishing a mental health expert collaborative to advise the Mayor and Commission.
Expand resources that support older adults and aging communities.
Strengthen collaboration between Athens-Clarke County and individuals and communities with disabilities.
Increase resources for veterans.
